She picks the man and the clothes

We’ve all known that when it comes to style and fashion women have held this corner for years. Setting and dictating trends that falls across both genders and inspires generations of fashion lovers.

However, fashion is not something the average man has, in essence, you either know fashion or you don’t. This leads onto the main point of this article, ‘women who still shop for their man’.

Now without emasculating a man, is it cool if your girlfriend/wife still buys your clothes, am referring to literally hand picking your t-shirts, blazers and jeans? Women that do this are they being allowed to or have they simply lost faith in their partners’ fashions sense?

A close friend said “the thing is, he used to dress so well, even he’s causal clothes did it for me but recently he’s just got lazy so I purposely buy and tell him what clothes to get, I have to pick the nice stuff, seriously he has hasn’t got a clue

With that said, surely when the courtship begins the one thing that attracts us to our partners apart from the obvious is fashion sense, if we’re then buying shirts and telling them what to wear doesn’t it loose its edge.

It’s one thing if your partner goes out and buys you an item of clothing as a gift, whether its jeans, shoes, etc, but it’s another thing to be fully dressed by her.

A study carried out by Mens warehouses ‘well-dressed men survey’ asked women what, if anything, they'd be willing to give up in exchange for their partner dressing better, the response:
10% of women would give up sex for a year.
10% of women would give up the internet.
20% would give up vacation days.
23% would give up their cell phones.
37% of women would give up going out to dinner.

It’s a natural instinct to want to look and feel the best. Moving as a well-presented unit is certainly key to maintaining this but there must be a point when a man should man up and well, dress himself, if he needs permission then I’m afraid there is no helping him.

FunkyT - Fashion is like Freedom of Speech

And I stand by that statement to a degree. Freedom of speech is defined as  the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas using one's body and property to anyone who is willing to receive them” Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Freedom of Speech

Fashion has been the one area we can express our inner most desires and flamboyance without restrictions and or restrains in public.
This brings me to the main point of this article, whilst brunching with a friend, he made the statement,

‘I don’t like what I see these days, fashion has gone belly up, men have become the new women, I mean look, wearing skinny jeans, skirts, extremely over the top tight shirts, pink wrist bands as accessories…its just all wrong, there is a rule and its there for a reason’

One’s fashion sense cannot be dictated and or controlled. If we move to era of setting up control and restrains, who gets to say when, where and how?
I agree fashion is changing and the emerging trends we are seeing are somewhat unique but that is the essence of fashion, it’s supposed to be daring, different, unique and challenge you to have an opinion.

What we are seeing today is no different to what happens in fashion cycles every 5-10 years or so. It's what we look back on and group as decades. Take the 80’s, it was bright colours, loud t shirts, disco nights, straight perms and extremely large shoulder pads.

Those are no different to the skinny jeans, converse and DKNY dresses (bricklane), leggings wearing, yoga pants hugging fads that we are seeing today.

As fashion goers and lovers we can only do our utmost to start trends we look back on and say, yes, I was part of that, I did it and here’s my picture.
The reality is, no idea in this day and age are truly original, its what you do with old ones that count, look at Facebook, think that was never done before, think again.

Take the Cupcake t shirt we have at FunkyT, the response has been good. People stop and ask, where is that from, how much is it, I like it, its different, it’s a bit crazy, I like it but its not me, and that’s fine, as its all about individual expression and freedom.

The beauty of fashion is that it has many shapes, styles and adaption of what we deem is beautiful. It’s suppose to make heads turn, hit people, have a lasting affect on someone and perhaps even at times cause a stir. But, the one thing we cannot do is try to restrict fashion and control it. Yes I agree there is a time and place for particulars to be a formality, i.e you wouldn’t wear your mankini in Tesco (although you shouldn’t wear one period), but no matter how outlandish it may be, there is always a time and a place to express fashion and that cannot be and shouldn’t be controlled.

FunkyT - If you kiss her mind, her body will follow

No truer statement can be said when it comes to the essence of relationship building. The aptly designed FunkyT shirt, ‘if you kiss her mind, her body will follow, sets the tone for the subject many still don’t seem to understand or appreciate its true value and the flourishing rewards that can come with it.

The man has always been seen as the fighter, gatherer, protector, the hunter and although not always the case, the woman, the recluse bedrock supporting mechanism.
The t-shirt statement derives from what some men seem to be misunderstanding. In order to fulfill himself as well her, the man must kiss the mind and embrace it fully.

The saying goes ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’, for women, it is truly through the mind. Kissing a woman’s mind is more important than the physical essence and or attributes of contact at first.

“Our lips are the body’s most exposed erogenous zone. A passionate kiss causes our blood vessels to dilate as the brain receives more oxygen than normal. Our cheeks flush, our pulse quickens, and breathing becomes irregular and deepens. Our pupils dilate, which may be the reason so many of us close our eyes”. Sheril Kirshenbaum Centre for International Energy and Environmental Policy, University of Texas Austin

With that said, your lips must kiss the mind, intrigue the mind, excite, nurture, caress and ultimately build the mind to want more and need more. Understand that although it is said men are from Mars and women are from Venus, if you have the right ship, time and distance, your journey will be more fruitful.

How does a kiss work? It acts like a drug by stimulating the natural chemicals in our bodies. When there’s real “chemistry” between two people, the right kiss can spark the magic of true romance by triggering a cocktail of hormones and neurotransmitters to course through our brains and bodies.

Essentially the physical action of a kiss and the factors it causes the body to go through one must apply when serenading a woman. The words you use will have ramifications longer lasting than you think, your words will ultimately open up the deeper layers of a woman’s mind, adding to your mystique but yet as a man gaining you respect that the average man doesn’t see as vital. There is a big difference between attention and respect, ‘boys seek attention, men demand respect’, so kiss her mind, verbally and literally, cater to her and ensure you arouse her mind as in time her body will follow.
